Our 2017 Peru expedition will be under the direction of CHOICE Humanitarian on our 1st expedition with the CHOICE in-country team in Peru (and 17th expedition with CHOICE worldwide). CHOICE will facilitate registration for the expedition and handle all in-country logistics, such as meals and sleeping accommodations. You will be receiving email communications from CHOICE Humanitarian as well as Singular Humanitarian during the registration process.
All volunteers will begin the application process by submitting a registration survey request online. Volunteers who are accepted to the expedition will then be asked to complete a formal application and make a nonrefundable US$300/~€230 deposit within 72 hours to hold their spot.
These four steps are explained in more detail below:
- Submit a registration request by clicking on the button “REGISTER PERU” available starting Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. PDT/9:00 p.m. EDT)
- Wait for an acceptance/wait list email notification.
All applicants will receive an acceptance or wait list email by April 2, 2017.
**If you are accepted, the email will contain an invitation to submit a formal application and make a $300 deposit.
We appreciate your patience on this matter, as we are a 100% volunteer-run organization.
Whether you get accepted for an expedition or are on an expedition waiting list, we encourage you to get involved in Singular Humanitarian in other ways, including being involved at the local chapter level, helping to organize and plan future expeditions, and assisting in workshop development.
- Upon receiving an acceptance email, submit required forms to Joanne Searcy at firstname.lastname@example.org and pay nonrefundable $300 deposit to CHOICE Humanitarian within 72 hours to confirm your spot.
You will receive instructions about how to pay the deposit in the email. Once you submit your $300 deposit, expedition application, medical passport form, and release and waiver, you will be confirmed for the expedition. We will send you an email to confirm we have received everything.

- Await further communication regarding workshop participation, expedition preparation, etc. CHOICE Humanitarian will be communicating with you directly via email regarding preparing for the expedition.
EXPEDITION COSTS AND CHOICE DISCOUNT
Cost: US$1,750/~€1,300 + airfare (a Singular Humanitarian-only discount; CHOICE’s expeditions typically cost ~US$2,500/~€1,865)
Approximately half of the per-person expedition fee directly benefits the local villagers through funding the sustainable development projects and the other half covers ALL in-country costs (food, accommodations, transportation etc.).
Deposit to reserve your spot: US$300/~€230* (nonrefundable and due 72 hours after acceptance email)
*The total fee includes the US$300/~€230 deposit.
*$50 off your expedition fee if you pay the entire amount within 7 days of acceptance (submit $1,700 to CHOICE).
EXPEDITION ACCEPTANCE & DEPOSIT PROCEDURE
You will receive an ACCEPTANCE or a WAIT LIST notification with further registration instructions between February 28 – April 2, 2017.
While our hope is to provide a Singular Humanitarian experience to everyone who has a desire to volunteer, we fill expedition based on the order in which registration requests are received, skill sets needed for training workshops, and the goal of 1:1 male/female ratio.
Your $300 deposit will not be due until after your receive a CONFIRMATION OF ACCEPTANCE. The $300/person deposit (in the form of a personal check or online credit card payment paid at www.choicehumanitarian.org/donate) is to be submitted to CHOICE within seven (7) days from receipt of acceptance.
The full registration fee shall be paid no later than 60 days before the Expedition departure. CHOICE will not accept applications later than 60 days before the Expedition departure unless mutually agreed to by both CHOICE and Singular Humanitarian.
Additional communications will take place with a CHOICE Humanitarian representative. Any CHOICE Humanitarian forms and paperwork are to be submitted by May 12, 2017.
Volunteers will not be confirmed as a member of the Expedition until CHOICE has received a fully completed Application and payment of the $300 registration fee.
REGISTRATION & EXPEDITION FEE SCHEDULE
February 14, 2017: Expedition registration opens on this website at 6 p.m. PDT/9 p.m. EDT.
February 14 – April 12: Open period for registration.
May 12, 2017: Final deadline for applications and submittal of all paperwork to CHOICE. Also, $300 deposit is non-refundable but any other deposit made can be transferred to another expeditioner within 1 year.
May 13- May 26: Upon cancellation, registration fee donations are non-refundable, but can be transferred (less $300 deposit and a $200 processing fee) to another person going on the expedition or to a future expedition scheduled within one year. Volunteer also responsible to CHOICE for any expenses incurred as a result of cancellation.
May 26: All matching contributions are due.
May 27 – June 10: Upon cancellation, all funds are non-refundable and non-transferable.
